Michael Maccombs Obituary

Michael Charles Maccombs, 84, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on May 31, 2026. Born on May 29, 1942, in Longstreth, Ohio, Mike lived a full life defined by service, craftsmanship, and a deep love for others.

A proud veteran, Mike served six years in the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal and Marine Sharpshooter. Following his military service, he dedicated 26 years to Anheuser-Busch, from where he retired. Mike was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed camping and hunting, and spent 17 wonderful years living on Jekyll Island. He was known for his talent in carving walking sticks and for his sweet nature earning him the nickname "the candy man." Whether he was teaching Sunday School or telling someone "you’re my favorite”, Mike was a friend to everyone he met. He had a way of making you feel seen and heard whenever you were with him. Mike had a kind and gracious heart full of love.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Merry M. Maccombs aka Toni Gold, and his sister and brother-in-law, Melanie and Michael Coplan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sharon Maccombs; his children, Eric (Angela) Maccombs, Erin (Ernest) Murray, and Heather (ViLac) Tran; his brother, George (Marty) Maccombs; and his beloved extended family friend, George Norton; grandchildren Jaclyn (Joey) Wood, Kaitlin (Steven) Antonoff, Emma (Jacob) Ferguson, Ian, Vivianna, Nick, Sydney, and Samantha; great-grandchildren Connor, Bryson, Aiden, Parker, Norah, Molly, Levi, Matthew, and Mary Elizabeth. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Living Hope Church, 9286 York Road, Pataskala, Ohio, with his service to begin at noon with Pastor Brian Burd officiating.
