Patricia L. Easterling

Patricia Easterling, age 77, of New Cumberland West Virginia passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025. She was born on January 14, 1948, to the late Bennye C. (Watkins) Richardson and Harold Richardson. She was born and raised in Martins Ferry, Ohio and graduated from Martins Ferry High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor's degree from Wheeling Jesuit University and continued her academic journey by obtaining two Master's degrees over the course of her life. A proud Veteran, Patricia honorably served her country as a member of the United States Army. Following her military service, she dedicated many years to her professional career, retiring from Weirton Steel Corporation. It was there that she met the love of her life, James L. Easterling. The two were united in marriage on September 27, 1985, and shared nearly 38 wonderful years together until his passing in May, 2023.

Her passion for education led Patricia to serve as a professor at Jefferson Community College, where she inspired and mentored countless students throughout her tenure. A lifelong learner, she continued her education well into her 60's. Patricia was a devoted member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and remained active in several churches in both Steubenville, Ohio and New Cumberland, West Virginia, throughout her life. Her faith, intellect and compassion were central to everything she did.

Patricia was preceded in death by her loving husband, James L. Easterling; her daughter, Tiffany Brown; her parents, Bennye and Harold Richardson; her siblings, Ronald Richardson, Stefania K. Richardson and Marty Richardson, and lasly; her granddaughter, Jozy Ferrer.

She is survived by her sons, Christopher Richardson and James Easterling, Jr.; her daughters, Gina Koren, Wina Hanselman, Yuna Easterling and Jenna Graham; her siblings, Eddie Richardson and Cynthia Richardson Brown; fifteen grandchildren; many beloved great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Patricia will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her pursuit of knowledge, her love for books, shoes and purses, and her deep commitment to her family and community. Her life was a beautiful example of perseverance, grace and love. Forever in our hearts. 

A Celebration of Life for Patricia will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 2 to 7:00pm at the RU Venue, 3133 Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton, WV 26062.
