Phyllis Ann (Ballard) Daugherty left this world and went to celebrate her first Christmas in heaven on December 10, 2023, at the age of 90. She was born on July 26,1933 to Elmer and Betty (Callahan) Ballard in Columbus, OH, and was a 1951 graduate of Linden McKinley High School. In 1952 she married her high school sweetheart, Richard J. Daugherty, who served in various political capacities in Reynoldsburg, including as President of City Council and as Mayor. Richard was a partner in Shivener Insurance Agency and preceded her in death in 1997. Together they enjoyed traveling to Florida and all over the United States in their motor home and watching Ohio State football. They were long time members of the Reynoldsburg Community Church.
Phyllis worked as a secretary at French Run Elementary School for many years and after her retirement continued volunteering, working one on one reading with students.
Phyllis and Dick raised two children, Charles Edward (1953-2020) and Cathy Marie. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Cathy Kupfer Wood, of Reynoldsburg; grandchildren, Valerie (Shawn) Roberts and Richard Daugherty, both of the Reynoldsburg community; Jenni Kupfer (North Carolina) and Charles Kupfer (Florida) and she was also preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher Kupfer. She is survived by 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sharon (Tom) Koehler of Scottsdale, AZ, as well as numerous nieces and nephews including Jennifer Rinkes and Robert Burke.
A memorial service for Phyllis will be held at Reynoldsburg Community Church,1636 Graham Road, Reynoldsburg, OH on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11:00am with Pastor Connie Fink officiating. Family will receive friends at Reynoldsburg Community Church one hour prior to her service. Private interment at Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
