Robert “Bob” Geer was born in Oil City, PA on July 30, 1934 to the late Robert Nelson Geer and Dorothy Snider Geer. Preceded in death by Kenneth "Dutch" Pleger, Jr. and one great-great-granddaughter.
He is survived by his loving wife Frances “Fran” Geer of Reynoldsburg. OH; daughter, Deborah Altman of Etna, OH; sister, Donna Hogue of Newton Falls, OH; grandson, Jacob Pleger of Reynoldsburg, OH; granddaughter, Jodi Pleger of Etna, OH; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Bob passed to his heavenly home on October 6, 2023 after several years of declining health. He served in the US Naval Air, attended Capital University on a football scholarship, played on a semi-pro football team after college, employed by Williams And Co. (House of Metals) as the Number One District Representative for 20 plus years, Southern Baptist Minister for seventeen years. Bob was a great story teller and always could share a good joke with you. He was good with kids and children adored him. He was the staple of many peoples lives.
Bob, aka “Coach Grandpa” coached wrestling at Watkins Memorial High School until age 84. He loved those guys and loved being with them. He did not miss any football games and after wrestling practice stayed to watch the basketball teams.
Bob’s family will receive friends on Friday, October 13, 2023 from 10:00am to 12 Noon at Brookside Baptist Church, 7255 Rodebaugh Road, Reynoldsburg, OH, 43068 where his funeral service will be held at 12 Noon with Pastor Michael Rector and Pastor Ron Duty officiating. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
