Roger Anderson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, teacher, coach, and friend, passed away on January 24, 2026. He was known for his kindness, warmth, and rare ability to make everyone feel seen and valued.
Roger was devoted to his wife of 59 years, Christine (“Tina”), whom he met as an eighth grader and married in June of 1967. He was a loving father to Erika (Jeff) and Allison (Tony), and a proud “Papa” to Max (Madison), Jack (Grace), Juliet, and Nico. His greatest joy was time with family.
A native of Chardon, Ohio, Roger was a 1963 state champion wrestler (127 lb). Roger attended Purdue University on a full athletic scholarship and graduated in 1967 with a degree in education. He went on to earn his master’s degree in educational leadership from Xavier University. He taught in Bexley (1 year) and Reynoldsburg, where he founded the varsity wrestling program and served as head coach for many years. After a 35-year career in education, he retired to spend more time with his grandchildren. In 2003, he was inducted into the Ohio Wrestling Hall of Fame.
In keeping with his wishes, no services will be held. Memorial donations may be made to the Cure PSP Foundation at: Cure PSP, 325 Hudson Street, 4th Floor, New York, NY 10013. Arrangements under the care of Cotner Funeral Home.
