Roy Tom Rutter, age 86, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025. Roy was born on September 4, 1938 in East Cleveland, Ohio to the late Roy Scott and Verna (Page) Rutter. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Rutter and grandson, Joel Hasken.
Roy is survived by his partner, Janet North-Liu; loving children, Roy Tim Rutter, Carl (Lori Reiter) Rutter, Keith (Lea) Rutter, Faith (Lloyd) Hasken, Valerie (Danny) Lawson and Paul (Lauren) Rutter; grandchildren, Matthew (Maddi) Rutter, Grace (Rene Jose) Berlioz-Hasken, Nathan (Lauren) Hasken, Justin Lawson, Brittani (Nathan) O'Connor, Jackson Rutter, Davis Rutter, Mason Rutter and Lincoln Rutter; great-grandchildren, Maple Rutter, Myles Rutter, Liam Hasken, Carter O'Connor and Tristan O'Connor.
Roy was a graduate of Geneva High School and then went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1960. He worked at National Cash Register and then later retired from Xerox. He served as President of the Laurel Canyon Civic Association, member of Tri-County Sportsman’s Club, and was also very active with Habitat for Humanity and Volunteer in Mission. Roy attended regularly at Saturday Men's Bible Study and was an active member at Reynoldsburg Community Church. He loved his long walks, square dancing, family and friends.
A memorial service for Roy will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 11:00am at the Reynoldsburg Community Church, 1636 Graham Rd. Reynoldsburg, OH. Roy's family will greet friends from 10 to 11:00am prior to his service. Private inurnment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
The Rutter family suggests memorial contributions to be made to: Mt. Carmel Hospice, in lieu of flowers.
