Ruth Radcliffe Obituary

Ruth Evelyn Radcliffe passed away on November 13, 2025, at Newark Rehabilitation, she was 92. She was born in 1933 to Clyde and Mary Walters in Harbor Hills, Ohio. Ruth attended Hebron Elementary School then went to Hebron High School.  As a teenager she delivered newspapers, waitressed, babysat, and worked at the Buckeye Lake Amusement Park.  After graduation from high school she worked at Newark Stove (Roper), then Owens Corning until she retired in 1993.  She moved to Cincinnati to live with her nephew, Rex and his wife Jan (her primary caregiver) and their daughter Courtney.  She continued to live with them, including a move to Katy, TX; until a final move to the Embassy of Newark facility in May of 2024. Ruth loved to do craft projects making ornaments, etc., and gave them as gifts. She also enjoyed working in the yard and her garden for many years.  She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church (Newark) and then Holy Family Parish (Middletown).

She is preceded in death by her parents Mary and Clyde Walters of Harbor Hills/Hebron; her husband, Orin Radcliffe; brother Vernon and sister-in-law Betty; many aunts, uncles, cousins; nephews, Rex, Mike, Kenny, Scott and niece, Susan Henley.  She is survived by her brother Ralph (Carol) Walters; niece Kiera Walters; nephews, Vernon (Sandy) Walters, Patrick Walters, Jeff (Cheryl) Walters, cousin Myrna; her best friend, Sandy Jenkins; and friends Sharon and Carole Eppley.  Ruth also leaves behind many great-nieces, great-nephews and one special great-niece she called a granddaughter, Courtney Walters, a special niece-in-law Janice Walters, and a grand-cat, Miaka.

Ruth's family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 from 10:00am to 11:30am at the Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 E. Main St. Reynoldsburg, OH, and will then meet for lunch, followed by a graveside service at St. Joseph Cemetery, 6825 Mt. Vernon Rd. Newark, OH 43055 at 2:00pm.  Per the family's wishes, please make any donations to Blessed Sacrament Church, 394 E. Main St., Newark, Ohio 43055.

We want to thank Newark Rehabilitation, their staff, and Hospice of Central Ohio Newark for taking care of Ruth; Rod and Sally Mason for all of their assistance taking care of things for her; Josh and Beth Walters for helping us too. Charlene Freeman-James for being there when we needed legal things done. Also family and friends for their support and prayers during this difficult time.
