Samson Dale Cornette, 70, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024. He was born in Berea, Kentucky on September 17, 1953 to the late Kermit and Ethel Cornette. He’s preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Shurann Yeager. He is survived by his daughter Lori (David) Coates; son Kasey (Shirley Lyon), their children Aston and EJ; son Samson Cornette, and his son Carter Cornette; brothers Swany (Janet) Cornette and Rocky (Sheila) Cornette; sister Armenta Mullins.
Samson was a Christian man of faith that attended Liberty Avenue Baptist Church, Berea. He was well known as radio personality, “Slammin Sam”, his skills were enjoyed on air throughout New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arizona, and Indiana. He was a professional musician, drummer and guitarist. Samson’s drumming skills may be appreciated by all while listening to his friend Tommy Tutone’s “867-5309 Jenny.” He toured with many musicians, which included American guitarist and singer Ted Nugent. He also worked with law enforcement while living in Oklahoma, and was a first responder at the Oklahoma City bombing, and is officially recognized as one, also to the May 3, 1999 tornado, the most powerful tornado ever recorded. Samson was also a martial artist, an expert marksman, and former NRA instructor.
