Shirley Jean Sanders

Shirley Jean Sanders was born on March 27, 1938 in Somerset, PA to the late George and Anna Belle Burtner. She is also prceded in death by her loving husband, Joe Clayton Sanders; sisters, Trudy Kemp, Harriet Blair and Sylvia Warnock.

Shirley passed away on June 21, 2026 in the comfort and care of her family. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Jim) Rustin, Donna (Todd) Hays and Barbara Bookout; grandchildren, James Rustin, Jr., Melissa (Trent Champlin) Rustin, Bailey Hays, Tyler Hays, Britnee Bookout, Jessica Bookout and Kaitlyn Bookout; brothers, George (Carol) Burtner and Bob Burtner.

Shirley spent a 15 year career working at the JC Penneys Warehouse, followed by her and her husband Joe owning a Quality Control business. Shirley enjoyed crocheting with a few side hobbies that included cooking, baking, planting flowers and gardening along with watching sports as she was an avid baseball and football fan. Most of all Shirley's favorite time was spent with her family and that included her several dogs. 

Shirley's family will receive friends on Monday, June 29, 2026 from 10:00am to 11:00am at the Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 E. Main St. Reynoldsburg, OH, where her funeral service will be held at 11:00am with Chaplain Irene Scaramazza officiating. Interment at Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
