Timothy "Tim" William Downey

Timothy William (Tim) Downey was born on December 2, 1948 in Cairo, Ohio and passed away on May 21, 2021.  He was the son of Leonard Joseph Downey of Columbus Grove, Ohio and Della Mae (Wooldridge) Downey of Brownwood, Texas.  Tim was preceded in death by each of his parents and by his nephew, Matthew David Downey.  He is survived by his brother, L. David (Susan K.) Downey of Gahanna, Ohio and his sister, Carol A. (Downey) (Dan) Frix of Williamsburg, VA.  Tim is also survived by his nephew, Mike (Carrie) Downey, his nieces, Meredith (Alex) Groff, Megan (Luttner)Brunner and Emily (Downey) (Mike) Sabula as well as by their young children. 

Tim was a graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School in Lima, Ohio and St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana.  He was a CPA and became a long-time Partner with Arthur Young & Co. (later Ernst & Young, Inc. or EY).  He spent his work life in Houston, Texas as well as in Jakarta, Indonesia and in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.  Tim met and befriended many in his years in Lima, at college and during his working years in Texas and around the world.  

He retired in about 1995 and lived out most of his years near his parents and his brother, Dave, in Reynoldsburg and in Columbus, Ohio.  He was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Columbus for many of his later years.  If you wish to make a donation in Tim’s memory, please do so with the charity of your choice, with thanks from Tim’s family.  May he rest in peace.
