William Paul Carter “Bill”, 75, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2024.
Born January 4, 1949, Bill grew up in Akron, Ohio. He was a highly skilled machinist, spending his career proudly working as a union member in various shops. He was also a devoted member of the Christian Life Center in Newark, Ohio. As a loving father to his daughters and an amazing Pawpaw to his grandchildren, Bill’s family meant everything to him.
He enjoyed fishing and was known for his love of baking for others. Bill was incredibly generous, always giving his time and talents to those around him. He had a special love for animals, especially dogs, and he helped care for many foster dogs over the years.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Shali Carter; his parents, Buster and Viola Carter; his sister, Sharon Ball; his brother, Duane Carter; and his nephew, Duane Carter II. He is survived by his daughters Patti (Afif) Naeem, Lisa (Justin) Kelley, and Katie Carter; grandchildren Wilson, Foster, Veena, and Edison Kelley; Joseph, Samantha, Nolan, and Cooper Bartunek; and Izzy and Grayson Grizzle; his brother Butch (Judy) Carter; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday from 5:00-7:30 p.m. at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 E. Main Street, Reynoldsburg. A service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
